Think of all it takes to make your household work smoothly: all the soap and paper towels, the salt & pepper and sugar, coffee, those special LED light bulbs , the sheets and pillow cases, even the pillows! Now think what it would be like if there were 16 women in your family!
Volunteer Service and Internships
Contact: Evelyn Colter Sims info@killingsworth.org
Volunteers are often needed at Killingsworth. If you choose to share your time, your talents and your skills with the women of Killingsworth you will not only bless us and receive our deep gratitude, you may also receive a blessing for yourself.
There are many opportunities for service:
Receptionist service — answer the door and phone, get the mail, assist staff
Organize and inventory — help sort and store donations of in-kind goods
Pulling those tenacious vines out of the bushes!
Share the harvest from your vegetable garden
Make bedroom curtains – build shelves for our closets!
Plant seasonal flowers in the yard; provide hanging baskets for the porch
Game night
Yoga
Preparation of taxes
Parenting skills
How to dress, stand, sit and smile for success
PRAY for the residents and staff
Site volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. Student internships are considered case by case, depending on our need and the requirements of the educational institution. We make an effort to partner with our local colleges and tech schools.
All volunteers will interact with our residents at some point. Your attitude, expressions and interest in serving others can enhance their journey and growth. It may change your life too. We believe the healthy, loving, and challenging relationship our residents have with the staff and volunteers is one way God works the mystery of grace.
Please contact our volunteer coordinator Evelyn Colter-Sims at info@killingsworth.org if you are interested. Orientation and training is normally part of your first service, if required. The staff member on duty would assist you as needed until you are comfortable on your own. Negative Covid-19 results within past three days is required to serve as volunteer. Masks are required for all staff and volunteers.
* Individuals or groups interested in social, family-oriented or employment skills workshops or Bible studies are asked to submit a proposal to the Program Manager.
We’re happy to answer any questions about volunteering or donations.
